About
Design that does the work for you
Hexalo Design Studio is a small branding and graphic design practice in Nakazakinishi, Osaka. It was set up as an independent practice with a clear idea of the kind of studio it did not want to be: no pitching for free, no inflated teams, no work that looks like it could belong to anyone.
The name comes from the hexagonal grid, a geometric structure the studio uses as an underlying scaffold in identity work. It is not a gimmick. The hexagon tiles perfectly, scales without distortion, and carries a quiet visual logic that most people feel before they can name it. That principle, structure you can feel but do not have to explain, runs through every project the studio takes on.
Hexalo works with a deliberately small number of clients at any one time: independent retailers, small cultural organisations, food and drink producers, and the occasional architecture or interiors practice. The work the studio is most attached to tends to be the quieter projects, the ones where a good system lets a small business look like itself and nothing else.
